Standard program subject to variations in accordance with each specific event

Day 1

  • Registration of the participants and introduction to the course
  • Meet & Great the faculty
  • Surgical anatomy of female pelvis
  • Support systems of pelvic organs
  • Fermale pelvis vasculature
  • Fermale pelvis nerve anatomy
  • Abdominal access and trocar placement procedures (hands on)
  • Principles of laparoscopic technique with controlateral and suprapubic access (hands on)
  • Principles of laparoscopic technique with ipsilateral access (hands on)
  • Laparoscopic surgical anatomy for a safe total laparoscopy hysterectomy (THL)
  • Cadaver lab: total laparoscopic hysterectomy (hands on)
  • Closure of the sessions and discussion

Day 2

  • Retroperitoneal access technique
  • Cadaver lab: how to obtain retroperitoneal spaces (hands on)
  • Pelvic and obturator lymphadenectomy
  • Cadaver lab: pelvic and obturator lymphadenectomy (hands on)
  • Lumbo-aortic lymphadenectomy
  • Cadaver lab: lumbo-aortic lymphadenectomy (hands on)
  • Closure of the sessions
  • Evaluation test

Laparoscopy – Level 4 Target audience

  • Postgraduates in Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Postgraduates in General Surgery
  • Gynaecologists
  • General Surgeons

Methods:

  • Number of participants: 9
  • Number of simulation workstations: 3
  • Number of teachers: 6 (2 teachers for each workstation)

Materials:

  • 3 workstations for laparoscopic dissection with complete laparoscopic towers and instrumentation
  • unembalmed cadavers to be used in the simulation of a laparoscopic syrgery intervention

The Hands on session is organized as follows:
After learning and discussing the basics of laparoscopic surgery and instrumentation, and surgical tecniques of some interventions, the attendants will simulate in turns a surgical laparoscopic intervention on anatomic material appropriately prepared (unembalmed cadavers).


Course learning goals

After completing the course, the attendants will be able to:

  • Have a thorough knowledge of abdominal access tecniques
  • Have a thorough knowledge of female pelvis surgical anatomy
  • Obtain surgical spaces safely
  • Perform as first operator a TLH
  • Perform as first operator a pelvic and obturator lymphadenectomy
  • Perform as first operator a Lumbo-aortic lymphadenectomy
